Hi all! I’m reaching out about Saxenda and any other weight loss medications. I’m feeling discouraged by how little weight I’ve lost on Victoza compared to what I’ve read from others. Normally, I’d give a medication more time to work, but I’ve been on it for almost six weeks now, and most success stories mention significant weight loss within the first month or even the first two weeks.

If you’ve tried Victoza, I’d love to hear about your experience—how it worked or didn’t work for you. Please share how long you took it, your dose timeline, and how much weight you lost and when. I’m also open to any tips you might have.

I’m a 25-year-old non-diabetic female, standing at 5’4” and weighing 280 lbs. I previously lost about 200 lbs naturally through diet and exercise, getting down to 190 lbs for the first time since childhood. Unfortunately, I hit a plateau, and with the pandemic, depression, and emotional stress from moving back home, I gained back up to 280 lbs within a year. I decided to try a weight loss medication to regain some motivation. Victoza was the only one covered by my insurance and available to me.

For about six weeks, I started at a 0.6 mg dose for four weeks and lost only 2 lbs. Now, I’ve been on a 1.2 mg dose for almost two weeks, and while I haven’t weighed myself, I see very little difference. I’m eating healthily, reducing my portion sizes, and have completely stopped emotional eating. I still work out, though not as much due to the side effects. I’ve been dealing with a fluttery stomach, migraines, heavy nausea, lightheadedness, and increasing fatigue. It’s tolerable, especially since it’s reduced my appetite and helped me eat less.

But to have lost nearly no weight is disheartening. My insurance denied my request for Wegovy coverage, which I’m considering appealing. I had high hopes for Victoza. Has anyone else had a similar experience with minimal weight loss? Did it eventually start working better? What’s your Victoza story? Thanks!
